One of the most popular open-source Advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) kits is Openpilot, developed by comma.ai. Openpilot is software that can control the gas, brake, and steering of compatible cars using a camera and radar. It can perform lane keeping and adaptive cruise control. However, Openpilot has some limitations on specific car models, such as Mazda. For example, some Mazda cars have a steering lockout feature that prevents Openpilot from steering continuously for more than a few seconds. This can cause Openpilot to disengage frequently and reduce the safety and comfort of the driver. Moreover, Mazda cars have a low steering torque limit that makes Openpilot struggle to steer on tight curves or at low speeds.
This is where the MoreTorque Torque Interceptors come in handy. By installing this device on your Mazda, you can overcome these limitations and unlock the full potential of Openpilot. The MoreTorque Torque Interceptor will increase the steering torque. This will enable Openpilot to steer more confidently and smoothly in any road condition. The MoreTorque Torque Interceptor will also eliminate the steering lockout. This will allow Openpilot to steer continuously without disengaging or triggering any warning lights.
The MoreTorque Torque Interceptor intercepts the steering torque signal from the car’s electronic power steering (EPS) module and modifies it to increase the steering torque and eliminate the steering lockout. This dramatically increases the performance and allows you to enjoy a smoother and more responsive driving experience with your open-source ADAS kit.
There are two versions of the MoreTorque Torque Interceptor. The Original Torque Interceptor and the Torque Interceptor 2.
The Original Torque Interceptor supports:
2014–2018 Mazda 3
Mazda 6
CX-3
CX-5
CX-9
The Torque Interceptor 2 supports:
2019+ Mazda 3
CX-30
CX-50
CX-90
The MoreTorque Torque Interceptor is compatible with Mazda models from 2014 and up. It is easy to install and requires no permanent modifications to your car. It integrates seamlessly with your existing Openpilot installation and does not interfere with the normal operation of your EPS. The MoreTorque Torque Interceptor has been tested extensively for safety and reliability. It has now been used by hundreds of users who have driven over 1 million combined miles with it.
If you want to improve the steering torque of your Mazda with Openpilot, you should consider getting the MoreTorque Torque Interceptor. You can get one at the MoreTorque Torque Interceptor website. You can also join the MoreTorque Discord to ask questions and get support. It will make your driving experience more enjoyable and satisfying with your open-source ADAS kit.
